Feet Friday May 17, 2024: Little Indies, Big Spendies

Hiya folks!

Welcome to the first installment of Feet Friday, a brand new blog series from the folks at GLYDR discussing what we’ve been playing, what we’ve been doing, and what we’ve been thinking about while we put our first batch of innovative foot-controlled devices into production!

If you’re reading this on a Saturday, you’re not alone. Kickstarter ate an earlier version of this blog because someone has a terrible habit of writing in the CMS and it finally caught up to him. Serves him right.

We forge ahead!

Little Indies, Big Spendies

What a week and some change it’s been for indies, huh? Kind of a nightmare for our wallets, but it’s been worth it so far. Probably the biggest of the bunch is Hades 2, the anticipated sequel of the best game of 2020. It only took a few minutes for us to figure out that yes, not only do we need more Hades in our lives, but developer Supergiant is naturally clever enough to inject some really interesting tweaks into a formula many of us poured hours into during the height of the pandemic.

But hey if Hades 2 isn’t your speed, you quite literally have your pick of high quality games in other genres right now. Whether it’s the onion-like platforming mystery of Animal Well, the narrative puzzler of Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, or typing dungeon-diver Cryptmaster, there’s just a bounty out there right now.

For us, the game that stole our hearts and time this week was Little Kitty, Big City, an incredibly adorable exploration and problem-solving game that puts you in the pawsition of the cutest video game cat this side of Neko Atsume. Precision jumping and stalking is just way, way more immersive and fun when you’re playing with GLYDR, too. You really feel the pounces when you’re doing it with your feet.

Highly recommended!

Proteus Controller Preorders Live

We’ve had our eye on Byowave’s Proteus controller for a while and this week, Microsoft revealed they’re the latest in their line of Designed for Xbox peripherals. Byowave has obviously thought a lot about how to build a modular controller for optimal versatility for folks with specific hand limitations.

Byowave's Proteus Controller

Preorders for the controller are live now and we’re going to grab one because we’re positive it’s going to be part of a perfect combination with GLYDR for a big group of gamers.

What We’ve Been Up To

Since our successful Kickstarter campaign, we’ve been super busy developing the business side of our operation as well as moving our production process forward in order to deliver Kickstarter units as soon as we can! That process has been a blast and we can’t wait to share more later this summer.

Speaking of which, our website is about to get a big facelift! Not only will you find this very blog over on the new site, but also a reservation feature that will allow folks who might’ve missed the Kickstarter to put money down for a future unit! We’re so excited to open this up to the general public and we’ll be sure to shout it out when the site is live!

In the meantime, join our Discord, follow our socials, and let us know which games you’re excited to play with your feet when GLYDR arrives!

Best,

John & The GLYDR Team
